مسجد نبوی میں پہلے منبر نہ تھا۔مسجد میں خرمے کے تنے کا ایک ستون تھا۔آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اس سے ٹیک لگا کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے۔ منبر تیار ہوا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اس منبر پر کھڑے ہو کر جمعہ کا خطبہ دینا شروع کیا تو دفعتاً اس ستون سے بچوں کی طرح رونے کی آواز آنے لگی۔بعض روایتوں میں ہے کہ انٹنیوں کی طرح بلبلانے کی آواز آئی۔حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم منبر سے اتر کر آئے اور ستون پر تسکین کے لئے ہاتھ پھیرا اور اس کو سینہ سے لگایا تو آواز بند ہو گئی۔(صحیح بخاری)

masjed nabvi main pahley manbar nah thaa. msjad main kharme ke tine ka aik stone thain. ap sali allah aleeh waalah wasalam es se tek laga kor khutbah dia karte they. manbar tayar hua tho op sali allah aleeh waalah wasalam né es manbar par khade ho kor jamaa ka khutbah dina sharooh kia tho dafata es stone se bachon kee tarh rone kee awaz aane lagi. rawayaton main he kah intenion kee tarh bulbulane kee awaz aayee hazur sali allah aleeh waalah wasalam manbar se utar kor aaye aur stone par taskin ke laye haath phera aur es ko sinah se lagaya tho awaz band ho gayi.(sahih bukhari)

There was no pulpit in The Prophet's Mosque earlier. In the mosque, there was a pillar of khurma stem. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to give sermons by leaning on it. When the pulpit was ready, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood on the pulpit and started giving the Friday sermon. According to some traditions, the sound of bubbling came like Cantonese. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came down from the pulpit and touched the pillar for solace and put it on his chest. (Sahih Bukhari)
